Lavinia Kadar
Lavinia was actively looking for an opportunity to do Science as an extra scholar activity.
She describes her journey to participate to the National Jonk Fuerscher Contest as a little challenge for her 17 years old self. Evolving in a context she describes as “not much sciency”, she stumbled upon an article in the Luxembourg City magazine about the Contest and went to see her teacher to ask what is a research project. She recalls being nervous about phoning the FJSL to ask for registration on her own the first time.
Lavinia remembers enjoying the challenge, the adrenalin rush while presenting her project in front of the jury. She also admits it was a tough introduction to working in a team with a fellow contestant but succeeding in qualifying to ISEF Los Angeles with their project Omega-3 alpha-linolenic fatty acid (ALA) in chia seeds (Salvia Hispanica L.) and its influence on human performance (Kadar Lavinia and Bahlawane Ines - 2017)
Hyped by all the opportunities generated by her participation, from meeting the Prince during the Luxembourg contest to travelling to Los Angeles, Lavinia also learned that she was much more attracted by the presentation of results than by the actual research itself and is looking for pursuing her studies in Science Media Production.
She is currently studying in London where she also is chair of the London Symphonic Orchestra.
